And They Shall Look Upon Him"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins." In the verses above, Shaul (Paul) talks about mysteries. A mystery is not a secret. Rather, it’s something that we need to understand. And the Spirit of God is here to explain. We need to know the mystery so that we do not become wise in our own opinion. In this particular passage, we want to focus on the mystery which is related to Israel and the second coming of the Messiah. Very often we ask ourselves, "why don’t Jewish people recognize that Jesus, Yeshua is the promised Messiah?" According to Romans 11, blindness comes about through unbelief: "...blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in." Did God purposely blind them without cause? Not at all. The Word of God says that; "because of unbelief they were broken off,..." Rom 11:20. If the person believes in the Word of God, their eyes will be opened to see Jesus. "And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which vail is done away in the Messiah. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it (the heart) shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away." 2 Cor. 3:14-16. God still calls and gives the chance to everyone to repent and be saved through the blood of the Messiah Yeshua. Yet, what is the mystery mentioned in Romans 11:25? When God chose Israel, He had made a covenant with them that at the end of times He shall forgive their sins. This covenant guaranteed the remnant of Israel salvation just before the second coming of the Messiah. In the book of Zachariah 12:10 we see the fulfillment of this event: "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn." We see that God will pour on Israel the spirit of grace and supplication so that they may see the Messiah, whom they have pierced. All of a sudden, all Israel will see Him, recognize and accept Yeshua as their Savior. This has been prophesied in the book of Isaiah and repeated in the book of Romans: "And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins." Not only will they recognize Him as the Messiah but as God as well. "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced,.." It can’t be any more simpler. And I will pour...the spirit. Only God can pour out the spirit. ...and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced,.. Oh dear friends, what a powerful event it is going to be in the land of Israel that day! It surely coming without delay! May God bless you as you read His precious Word.
