The Birth of the Messiah

I will be giving you some clear Biblical points, so that we may understand not only who the Messiah is, but why and when He was born.

Luke 1:5-8; so in the days of Herod, King of Y’hudah, there was a cohen (the priest) named Zechariah who belonged to the Aviyah division. His wife was a descendant of Aaron and her name was Elisheva (Elizabeth). Both of them were righteous before God observing all the mitzvot, which is commandments and ordinances of Adonai blamelessly, but they had no child because Elisheva was barren and they were both well along in years.

It is mentioned here on purpose that Zechariah was from a division. Do you understand that the priests were in divisions? It’s like in the army. The priestly divisions are described in 2 Chronicles, Chapter 24.

Zechariah belonged to Aviyah division. Because this is the key connection to the birth of the Messiah, so it says here on purpose that Zechariah was from that division of Aviyah. Now let’s go to 1 Chronicles, Chapter 24 and let us find something interesting there. In verse 1 and verse 10 it says “The divisions of the descendants of Aaron were as follows…”

In verse 1 these are the divisions of the descendants of Aaron. They were the priests. Each priest belonged to a certain division. Zechariah belonged to division number eight, which is Aviyah division.

Let's read verse 10; it says “The seventh division was for Hakotz and the eighth division for Aviyah. Zechariah, according to Luke 1, belonged to Aviyah’s division which was number eight to serve in the temple.

There were 24 divisions in the temple and each was to serve two weeks at a time throughout the year. So each priest from each division would serve the Holy of holies in the temple only for two weeks once a year. Because Zechariah belonged to division number eight, he was on the sixteenth week to start with.

Two weeks at a time each priest would serve and guess when they were going to start? They would start in March (Aviv). “This shall be your first month to you…” Exodus 12:2. The service begins in the first month, Aviv (March), the Aviyah’s division was number eight to serve in the temple. Eight multiplied by two is sixteen, sixteen weeks. Therefore Zechariah would come in at the second part of June to serve the temple.

The bible says that he had to stay till he would finish his service which ended at the end of June. He went home and he did not hesitate. Bible says that Elisheva conceived right away. So we understand that she has conceived in the beginning of July.

In verse 26 to 33 it says; “In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city in the Galil, which is called Nazareth to a virgin engaged to a man named Yosef, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Miriam. Approaching her, the angel said “Shalom favored one. Adonai is with you! She was deeply troubled by His words and wondered what kind of a greeting this might be. The angel said to her “don’t be afraid Miriam for you have found favor with God”. Look, you will become pregnant, you will give birth to a son and you are to name him Yeshua (salvation). He will be great, he will be called Son of Ha Elion Adonai. God will give Him the throne of his forefather David and He will rule the house of Ya’akov forever, there will be no end to His kingdom.

The angel, Gabriel came to visit her on the sixth month after Elisheva conceived a child. So we understand that Elisheva conceived in July. Six months later, July, August, September, October, November, December was the time when Gabriel spoke to Miriam. December! Hanukkah! Why? Because God runs the universe, He runs the time. This is why it is very important to understand and to celebrate the feasts of the Lord because God runs His time calendar through His Feasts.

Hanukkah is the Feasts of Lights and Yeshua, our Messiah is the Light of the world. This is why Gabriel came to Miriam in December and said that she shall conceive our Messiah!

Let us begin to count something. If Mary conceived in December so Yochanan, John was born in March. Let me count then when Yeshua was born. If Marry conceived in December, let’s say; January, February, March, April, May is five, June is six, July seventh, August eight, September nine. You tell me now when our Messiah was born; September! Nine months from January is September! In September we are entering into the Fall Feasts. God never missed a Feast. God does not miss His calendar! If He has recorded this information in Chronicles then it is important!

As it is written there were 24 divisions in the temple of the priests. 24 serving by two weeks is only 48. What happens with another four weeks since there are 52 weeks in a year? The high priest himself served one week in Passover. Next he would serve a week in the temple in Shavuot and another two weeks he would serve in September for Fall Feasts which is Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Feasts of Tabernacle.

Mary gave birth to our Messiah in September. September has three major holidays and the holidays are; Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Feasts of Tabernacle. When Yeshua came as the Messiah he came as God dwelling with man.

There was in Yerushalaim a man name Shimon. This man was a tzadik, (righteous man) he was devout, he waited eagerly for God to comfort Israel and the Ruah Ha Kodesh was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Ruah Kodesh that he would not die before he had seen the Messiah. Now prompted by the spirit he went into the temple court and when they brought Yeshua, as is customary to be circumcised, so when his parents brought in the child Yeshua to do for him what the Torah required Shimon took him in his arm, made a b’racha which is the blessing to God and said, he blessed him and said; “now Adonai, according to your word, your servant is at peace as you let him go. I have seen with my own eyes your Yeshua which you prepared in the presence of all people in light that will bring revelation to the Goyim, the light that He will bring to the gentiles and glory to your people Israel. Luke 2:25-32.

Why do we believe that Yeshua was born in the time of the Feast of Tabernacles? Because in John 1:14 the Bible says; “And the glory of God dwell among men and we beheld His glory”.  The first time the glory of God dwelled among men was in the wilderness. This is why they built the Tabernacle. This is why the Feasts of Tabernacles means the glory of God dwelling among man. Before that, God would come and visit, like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He would come and visit and go up again. He would even come to the Garden of Eden and visit Adam and Eve, as the Bible says; “and they would walk or fellowship in the coolness of the day and then God would go up again.

So the first dwelling of God on earth occurrence we understand is in the Book of Exodus where God said you build me a Tabernacle and I will come down and dwell there. In Exodus 40 when the Tabernacle was ready and Moses came in to the Tabernacle to dedicate the Shakinah glory of God came upon the Temple. Moses went flat faced to the ground. He could not stand on his feet because of the presence of God. From that time on God’s glory begins to dwell in the Tabernacle.

This was the first occurrence where God Himself, God the father literally stepped down from heaven and began to dwell on earth. This is why the Jewish people are so important because they were the first nation on earth to receive the Kevod, the Shakinah glory of God. They were the first channel that God used to bring His glory upon this earth.

Concerning our Messiah Yeshua; the Word pf God says “and we beheld His glory”. Only God can have glory. Yeshua the Messiah, is God in the flesh and we beheld his glory! This was the second time where God came to dwell among man in His glory but this time it was a visible manifestation of Adonai in our flesh.

Search the scriptures for in them you’ll find eternal life and they speak about Yeshua. Did you know that the Bible says Yeshua our Messiah was already ordained before the foundation of the world to come and do what He has done before we were even created?

Let me bring this to a picture. God had a board meeting and said; “That’s what we are going to do. We will create man, we know what is going to happen with him but I’m going to create my calendar from March to December. And from March to December I am going to have seven feasts. I’m going to present them to my people and I will run My calendar according to these feasts until they are all fulfilled and when they are all fulfilled it’s going to be over because the last feast Succoth or Tabernacles represents God dwelling on earth which is the second coming of the Messiah. Again He will dwell with us and it’s the millennium.

My friend! Next year in September or whenever the Feast of Tabernacle is going to be according to our calendar, we will celebrate the birth of Messiah. God wants to  bring us back to His truth.

Friend, we are all grafted to the tree. Jews or Gentiles. We all were broken off because of sin. I had to be grafted into the tree by accepting Yeshua and I cannot be saved just because I’m a Jew. And now we all have to live by the Word of God and only!

God bless you. Shalom.
